A space for meaningful inner transformation — for our clients, and for the clinicians who walk beside them.
Metanoia Therapy & Wellness is growing, and we’re looking for our first clinician to grow with us. Metanoiameans a shift beyond the mind — a change of heart, perspective, and direction. We built this practice to be a place where clients can come exactly as they are, feel understood, and do real, lasting work. We’re looking for a therapist who feels that in their bones: warm, deeply empathetic, and genuinely committed to the people they sit with.
Right now, more people are reaching out than one clinician can hold. That’s a good problem — and it’s the reason we’re opening this role. We’d rather grow carefully, with the right person, than grow fast with the wrong one.
Apply on Indeed →Who we’re hoping to meet
You might be a good fit for Metanoia if:
- You lead with empathy and truly care about your clients' growth.
- You practice from an evidence-based foundation (CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care) while keeping sessions human and individualized.
- You work well with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, feeling stuck, and personal growth.
- You connect with the Metanoia message — that therapy is about honest, meaningful change.
- You're excited (not scared) to be the first hire in a young, growing practice, and to help shape what it becomes.
What you’d be responsible for
- Showing up fully for your clients and providing the best possible care.
- Clinical assessment, diagnosis, and individualized treatment planning.
- Timely clinical documentation in SimplePractice.
- Sessions both in person (Wakefield) and virtually via telehealth.
What we handle for you
You focus on the clinical work. We take care of the business side:
- Insurance billing and claims management.
- Credentialing, paneling, and incoming referrals.
- Caseload-building support (toward ~5–10 clients weekly to start).
- Marketing and the administrative back-end.
- SimplePractice EHR access.
The honest details
We believe in being upfront, so here’s the real picture of the role as it stands today:
- Part-time, per-session pay to start.
- You're paid for the sessions you complete — this isn't a salaried position, and we can't guarantee a full caseload on day one. As referrals grow, so does your schedule.
- Compensation.
- $45–$55 per hour, based on your experience.
- Shared office in downtown Wakefield, plus virtual.
- You'd work from our shared office space in Wakefield, RI and see clients both in person and over telehealth.
- Benefits roadmap.
- We don't offer health insurance or benefits yet — but that's the direction we're building toward, and we'll be honest with you about where things stand.
- Room to grow.
- This starts small and part-time on purpose. For the right person, there's real potential for it to become something much bigger as Metanoia expands.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy, or a related field.
- Active LICSW or LCSW — Rhode Island mental health license.
- Experience providing psychotherapy to adolescents and/or adults.
- Strong clinical assessment and documentation abilities.
- EHR proficiency (SimplePractice experience preferred but not required).
- Comfort with both in-person and telehealth sessions.
- A caring, collaborative, culturally responsive, client-centered approach.
Why this is a rare opportunity
Most therapy jobs drop you into an existing machine. This one lets you help build it. You’d be Metanoia’s first clinician — with a real voice in how the practice grows, an owner who handles the parts of private practice most clinicians dread, and the chance to do deep, unhurried work in a setting designed around the client.
